Christmas Feasting - 3 Top Tips to Stop Over Indulgences!

Christmas festivities often present us with an array of sumptuous feasting and snacking. Christmas does not have to be a time to let your health and weight suffer. You can use a little planning and stay well in control whilst enjoying Christmas celebrations.   Here are three top tips to help you keep your waist line and your good health:
 

 

  • 1. Plan to eat healthy. Make a firm decision before you leave the house that you will only have one small treat over the day, you will choose small portions of the food on offer, you will eat slowly, drink a full glass of water before your meal and not go back for seconds.  This will stop you from over indulging. Another good tip is to avoid the bread roll and leave out the cheese. Choose to say no to nibbling on the snacks handed around and drink lots of water over the day.

    2. Have a fruit shake before you leave the house. If you find it difficult to limit or keep track of the portions you are eating at Christmas functions, before you leave home make yourself a fresh fruit shake. Throw a banana, apple, pear, and whatever other fruit you have in a blender with some water or low fat yogurt. A large glass will fill you, get rid of hunger pains and it will save you from eating everything in sight. You will be feeling full after the fruit shake and it will be easy to say no to food on offer.  It’s a super tip that’s guaranteed to work.  If you don’t want to expand your waist line this Christmas this could be your answer!

    3. Limit your alcohol. Make a pact with yourself that you drink one drink per hour maximum. Sit on it and sip it slowly. When you have finished fill your wine glass with water. No one will know the difference. You’ll stay in control and be feeling and looking great!  You will keep your weight down by not over indulging in alcoholic drinks (most are filled with sugar which stacks on the weight) and you’ll be able to drive home safely showing great responsibility by not putting yourself or anyone else at risk.
